Reading is my lifelong love and I hope to share that enthusiasm with you all here. It is also such a core feature of my personality (for better or worse) that I often get asked for book recommendations. As I endeavor to keep reading as a central part of my own life/well being practices, my approach will be quality over quantity—the goal isn’t to read as many things as possible, but to engage deeply and give the books that I read the chance to teach me, change me and possibly reach others.
I strive to read a diverse array of things (from genre to format) but I do have my favorites: fantasy/scifi, poetry, essays, philosophy, politics, and, as a general rule, I prefer fiction over non fiction.
A couple things you won’t see here:
Negative reviews: I am unlikely to post an overwhelmingly negative review because, as a general rule, I don’t hate read. If I hate a thing enough, I will simply put it down, because life is short and I love myself.
Ratings: I dunno, man, they seem really arbitrary and Goodreads exists.
A few things you will see:
Enthusiasm and admiration for the written word and writers.
A critical lens.
An embrace of the practical and the impractical. This isn’t primarily a self improvement endeavor—its a self love practice. I read because I love it. I hope you do things you love, too!
